recaro monza seatfixFAQ's about ISOFIX car seats.

Here we try to answer some of the frequently asked questions about ISOFIX car seats.

Which ISOFIX seat should I chose?

Firstly we suggest you check with your vehicle manufacturer to see if they recommend a particular seat, for example, Skoda UK recommend the Britax Duo Plus. You can also check the seat manufacturers websites to see which seats are approved for use in your car. (We have some sites listed on our Can I Use It page). There are several seats to chose from and the final colour or fabric choice will be a matter of personal preference.

Will it fit my car?

See our page on Using Isofix. The seat manufacturers websites will tell you if your vehicle is suitable for an ISOFIX seat.

Do I have to use the support leg?

If your seat is supplied with a front support leg then yes you must use it to stop the seat tilting forward in an accident. Always check your vehicle handbook or ask your vehicle dealer which type of ISOFIX your vehicle uses. (Universal or Semi-Universal).

Do I have to have a top tether strap?

Again, check your handbook or ask your vehicle dealer, as some seats require a top tether strap and some do not. You can also check on the seat manufacturers website to see if your car needs a strap.

Which manufacturer is the best?

There is not really much difference in the quality of the seats as they all have to meet British Standards regulations. We have found that Britax have the widest range of ISOFIX seats, and therefore there should be a seat suitable for almost any compatible vehicle.

Is it OK to import a seat from another country?

You may have seen ISOFIX seats for sale cheaper in other countries - BE VERY CAREFUL - if you are thinking of buying one and importing it yourself. Safety laws in some countries are not as stringent as in the UK, and although the seat may look the same, it may not be built to the same standards or have the same features. If you are looking for a UK supplier, we recommend getting ISOFIX car seats from ICBABY.COM for consistently competitive prices.
